2013/14 - Route 8 spur - James Street

James Street has been identified in the Highways Programme as requiring resurfacing work. We are taking this opportunity to upgrade the existing cycle lanes and introduce additional active travel measures to improve the street environment for both pedestrian and cyclists.

The proposals include:

  • widening the existing cycle lanes
  • creating a central space for motor vehicles which will operate without a centre line with the expectation that vehicles will some times have to encroach into the cycle lane
  • installing an additional zebra crossing
  • narrowing the Dumballs Road junction to reduce speeds
  • installing an uncontrolled crossing to further reduce speeds on the approach to James Street

To ensure that this cycle scheme best meets the needs of users, we want your views on these proposals.

If you have any comments or ideas about any of the schemes please get in touch on cycling@cardiff.gov.uk before Friday 26th July 2013.

Paper copies of the concept design can also be requested on 029 2087 3254 or cycling@cardiff.gov.uk
