Walking to school is a good way to wake up the grey cells and Teachers say that children who walk to school arrive ready for their day and concentrate better (www.bikehub.co.uk/featured-articles/cycling-to-school).
Your school may already run a ‘walking bus’ or you might just meet up with your friends and neighbours to make the trip. (www.roadsafety.cardiff.gov.uk/to-school-safely/walking-bus)
Why not take look at what Walk to School Week and Walk to School Month are all about to start you off. (www.walktoschool.org.uk)
What are the recommended activity levels for children?
The Government says children should have 60 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each day. Remember this doesn’t have to be all at once! You can build it up gradually with six 10-minute bursts spread throughout the day.
