Cycleway 4.2

Cardiff Council are consulting on proposed options for Cycleway 4.2 which will connect Western Avenue with Llandaff village.

The five options being consulted on will allow cyclists to cycle across Western Avenue safely using a new toucan crossing, via one of the following routes:

Option A:

The new cycleway would utilise the existing path on the north side of Cardiff Metropolitan University campus, continuing parallel onto the path by the river before going south through Llandaff Meadow onto Cathedral Green, then onto Bridge Road and finally onto Llantrisant Road

Option B:

This route would take cyclists west along the river path, exiting to the east by the rowing club on Bridge Road. The cycleway would then head through the new development proposed on the previous BBC Cymru Wales site onto Llantrisant Road.

Option C:

The third option would travel along the east side of Western Avenue and would use the existing crossing over the road, which would be made into a new toucan crossing. This route would run along the existing path that runs south of Llandaff Cemetery to Cathedral Close, onto Cathedral Green, onto Bridge Road, and then onto Llantrisant Road.

Option D:

The fourth option would use the existing path on the north side of Cardiff Metropolitan University campus, joining the path by the river, before exiting east by the rowing club on Bridge Road, through the old BBC Cymru Wales studios onto Llantrisant Road.

Option E:

The last option would also use the existing path on the north side of Cardiff Metropolitan University campus, continuing the route parallel to the path by the river.

The cycleway would then head south through Llandaff Meadow towards Llandaff Cathedral, then west to join the path by the river, exiting to the east by the rowing club on Bridge Road, through the former BBC Wales Cymru studios onto Llantrisant Road.
